One of the coolest things about the database is it allows each breeder to add every goat they have. We encourage every breeder to add all of their stock to keep accurate records.
It is really easy to register. The form links are at the bottom of the page. There is a Farm/Ranch Form, a Goat Form, Buck Test Form, Transfer Form, and a Herd Prefix Form, if you do not select one at the time you signed up, you can use the “Herd Prefix” Form to select your personal Herd Prefix.
When you register the pedigree of the goat stock you have, and you do not know specific information, other than the breeder, please use the “breeder” name and ‘buck’ or ‘doe’ to signify that breeders line. As you move forward in the database, your herd prefix will appear on the registration certificates as the breeder, but the bloodline will be notated in the bottom left hand corner.

When it comes time to sell, a breeder may request a certificate to be printed for the new owner. The new owner may join and have the registration certificates printed in their name. This is when the breeder will be charged for the certificates that are printed. A breeder can put 150 goats in the database and add kids each year. It is when he/she actually asks for a printed certificate, that one will be charged at the current rate.
We highly recommend DNA on all Bucks. This allows a breeder to accurately record parentage, if multiple bucks are with your herd of does. Please be sure to select the Spanish Goat Association when doing DNA. All breeders own their information, ad you may share it with any other organization you choose.

More information will be added about the NSIP Program and DNA of your stock. We ask that each breeder have 10% of their herd tested each year. It may take ten years, but eventually all of the herd will be tested and at a minimal cost each year.
- When you DNA your stock, please forward that information and we will add it to the animal in the database.
- Notes to remember when registering stock:
- The owner of the DOE at the time of CONCEPTION, is the breeder. The registration name and certificate will reflect the HERD PREFIX of the breeder.
- Date of Birth should be as close as possible, month and year are most important. We understand that sometimes we do not know the actual day of kidding, due to animals being on large ranches.
- Number in kidding. This is to record how many kids the doe had at the time of kidding, not necessarily to record which was born first. If you can accurately list the birth order, that is beneficial to your record keeping. Number in kidding gives an account of how many kid the doe ha and survive-ability or each kid born to that doe.
- When taking photos, please get the best profile shot you can with no other animals in the photo. Photos may be added at a later date.
